Every page gives the child a topic, three guiding questions printed lightly behind the lines, a word bank of six words, a Star Word to stretch vocabulary and linking words, so no child is left staring at a blank page. A "My check" box builds the habit of checking spelling and full stops, and the Teacher's box gives up to four stars and a remark. Dated pages turn the journal into a record of progress.
